Federal Reserve Approves Bank of Nova Scotia's Application to Acquire MapleMark Bank's Parent Company
The Federal Reserve Board has approved an application by The Bank of Nova Scotia of Canada. According to the Board's voting record and its 2026 list of orders under the Bank Holding Company Act, the application was approved unanimously on October 28, with the order issued on October 29.
The application concerns the Bank of Nova Scotia's acquisition of Maple Financial Holdings, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, the parent company of MapleMark Bank. In its application filings, the bank said acquiring an FDIC-insured charter would support its U.S. mortgage capital markets business and warehouse lending strategy.
The Bank of Nova Scotia is one of Canada's major banks, with wholesale banking operations in the United States. Cross-border acquisitions of this kind require Federal Reserve approval under Section 3 of the Bank Holding Company Act before they can close.
