Nebraska Forward Pryce Sandfort Named to Julius Erving Award Watch List in Lincoln, Lancaster County on October 28: School-Record 129 Three-Pointers Last Season
The University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Lancaster County, announced on October 28 that men's basketball forward Pryce Sandfort has been named to the Julius Erving Award watch list, one of 20 candidates for the honor. Presented by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and now in its 13th year, the award recognizes the best small forward in NCAA Division I.
Sandfort, a senior, collected several preseason honors, including a spot on an All-America third team. Last season he averaged 18.1 points per game on 48 percent shooting with 4.9 rebounds per game, and his 129 three-pointers broke Nebraska's single-season record, making him one of the team's offensive centerpieces.
Nebraska opens its new season at home against Le Moyne College at 7 p.m. on November 2, with Sandfort expected to continue carrying a primary scoring load. The Erving Award winner will be announced in December at ESPN's college basketball awards event, and Sandfort's selection adds intrigue to Nebraska's new season.
