密西西比州沃特瓦利三氯乙烯污染诉讼：再有6案被联邦法官发回州法院，同类案件发回总数已逾十件
密西西比州拉法叶县牛津市消息：据Mealey's法律资讯10月28日报道，密西西比州一名联邦法官以缺乏管辖权为由，将6起指控沃特瓦利（Water Valley）一处设施关联企业以三氯乙烯（TCE）蒸气「毒害民众、环境与社区」的案件发回州法院；这已是同类案件中最新一批，被发回的案件总数已超过十件。
三氯乙烯是一种工业脱脂溶剂，美国环境保护署认定其为致癌物。此前公开报道显示，沃特瓦利涉案工厂曾生产化油器，原告包括该厂前员工等，指称被告在生产中使用含TCE的蒸气脱脂剂，污染了空气、地下水与土壤，致原告罹患癌症、帕金森病等长期病症；被告包括EnPro Industries、Detrex Corp.与Italmatch Chemicals等。
被告此前以当事人多元籍为由将多起投诉移送联邦法院。本次发回意味着这批案件将改在密西西比州法院审理。案件实体指控仍有待法院审理认定。

Mississippi Water Valley TCE Cases: Six More Remanded to State Court, Total Now More Than a Dozen
OXFORD, Lafayette County, Mississippi — Six cases accusing companies associated with a facility in Water Valley, Miss., of "poisoning the people, environment, and the community" with trichloroethylene (TCE) vapors were the latest in more than a dozen to be remanded by a federal judge in Mississippi for lack of jurisdiction, Mealey's legal news service reported Oct. 28.
TCE is an industrial degreasing solvent classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a carcinogen. Earlier reporting on the litigation says the Water Valley facility made carburetors, and plaintiffs — including former employees — allege the defendants used a TCE-containing vapor degreaser that contaminated air, groundwater and soil, causing long-term illnesses including cancer and Parkinson's disease. Defendants include EnPro Industries, Detrex Corp. and Italmatch Chemicals.
Defendants had removed a series of complaints to federal court alleging diversity jurisdiction. The remands send this latest batch back to Mississippi state court. The underlying allegations remain to be adjudicated.
