康涅狄格州费尔菲尔德县布里奇波特市消息：布里奇波特市长约瑟夫·加尼姆（Joseph Ganim）10月28日就该市诉联合照明公司（United Illuminating，UI）一案发表声明称，高等法院推翻了州选址委员会沿大都会北方铁路设置单杆输电塔的决定，这是居民的一次重大胜利。
加尼姆说：「联合照明应受到与康涅狄格州其他市镇所提议相同的审查与标准。我领导的市政府将继续要求UI把全部输电线路埋入地下，以维护我们滨水物业的景观与价值、促进经济发展，并保护我们的文化与历史遗址。」
加尼姆表示，他仍愿意本着诚意与UI谈判，寻求一个可接受的地下化替代方案。

Bridgeport Mayor Ganim: Superior Court Overturned Siting Council Monopole Decision in United Illuminating Case
BRIDGEPORT, Fairfield County, Connecticut — Mayor Joseph Ganim issued a statement Oct. 28 on Bridgeport's lawsuit against United Illuminating (UI), saying he is gratified that the Superior Court overturned the Siting Council decision to place monopoles along the Metro-North railroad, "resulting in a major win for our residents."
"United Illuminating (UI) should be held to the same scrutiny and standards as proposed by other cities and towns in Connecticut," Ganim said. "My administration will continue to demand UI to underground all transmission lines to preserve the aesthetics and value of our waterfront property, contribute to our economic development, and protect our cultural and historic sites."
Ganim said he remains ready and willing to negotiate in good faith with UI toward an acceptable below-ground alternative proposal.
