AAA South Dakota Warns of Halloween 'Triple Threat': Trick-or-Treating, Impaired Driving and the End of Daylight Saving Time
RAPID CITY, Pennington County, South Dakota — AAA South Dakota warned on October 28 of a "triple threat" this Halloween: Saturday trick-or-treating, impaired driving and the end of daylight saving time, with clocks set back early Sunday.
This year's timing means it will get dark before trick-or-treating ends. AAA urged trick-or-treaters to wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight or glow items — a glow necklace, glow sticks, a flashlight or a headlamp — so drivers can see them.
Rapid City police said they will be on the streets watching for impaired drivers and encouraged Halloween participants to plan ahead and arrange a sober ride. AAA noted the effects of the time change will linger into the following week's darker commutes.
