加利福尼亚州旧金山县旧金山市消息：Playing for Keeps基金会与America SCORES湾区组织10月28日宣布合作，在旧金山公立学校新建或升级14块合成草皮球场，以缓解部分社区儿童缺少优质活动场所的困境。
双方表示，这批共14个项目总投资约190万美元，球场总面积超过10万平方英尺，约相当于两个标准足球场，未来十年内每年将惠及4000多名学生。资金来源包括赫布斯特基金会与爱彼迎的支持。项目针对的是资源不足社区的学校，那里的孩子往往只能在沥青与水泥地面上活动。
Playing for Keeps基金会主席Dr. Mimi Nartey表示："优质球场不是奢侈品，而是童年基础设施的一部分，是孩子运动、竞赛、交朋友与发现自身能力的地方；孩子获得机会与否，不应由邮政编码决定。"该基金会致力于在缺乏可靠活动场所、且天然草皮难以维护的社区建设高质量、可持续的活动空间，并联合慈善机构、产业界、学校与青少年服务组织出资建设与维护场地。合作方表示，这些球场将通过体育运动、课程项目与社区使用，长期服务学生与周边居民。

Two Groups Partner to Build or Upgrade 14 School Playfields in San Francisco: About $1.9 Million Invested, Reaching 4,000+ Students a Year for a Decade
SAN FRANCISCO, San Francisco County, California — The Playing for Keeps Foundation and America SCORES Bay Area announced a partnership on October 28 to build or upgrade 14 synthetic-turf playfields at San Francisco public schools, aiming to close the gap in quality play spaces for children in under-resourced neighborhoods.
The 14 projects represent a combined investment of about $1.9 million and more than 100,000 square feet of play space — roughly two full-size soccer fields — and are expected to serve more than 4,000 students a year over the next decade. Funding support comes from the Herbst Foundation and Airbnb. The projects target schools in under-resourced communities, where children often have only asphalt and concrete surfaces to play on.
Dr. Mimi Nartey, chair of the Playing for Keeps Foundation, said a quality field is not a luxury but part of the infrastructure of childhood — a place for children to play, compete, make friends and discover what they can do — and that a child's ZIP code should never determine the opportunities available to them. The foundation works to build high-quality, sustainable play spaces in communities that lack reliable places to play and where natural grass is hard to maintain, partnering with philanthropies, industry, schools and youth-serving organizations to fund and maintain the fields. The partners said the fields will serve students and surrounding residents long-term through sports, school programming and community use.
