San Antonio Attorney Thomas J. Henry Endorses James Talarico for U.S. Senate
Thomas J. Henry, a well-known San Antonio personal injury attorney, announced publicly on October 22 that he will vote for Democratic candidate James Talarico in Texas's U.S. Senate race, even though he had supported state Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Republican primary.
In a roughly one-minute video posted on social media, Henry said he had initially backed Paxton because he felt Paxton's primary opponent, incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, had been in office too long. After a one-on-one conversation with Talarico, he said, he learned of Paxton's "long list of scandals" and found that Talarico reflected values including respect, fairness, safety, a strong Texas economy and a balanced approach to the issues. "I don't endorse people lightly," Henry said.
The endorsement comes as early voting turnout in Bexar County hits record levels. Talarico is scheduled to hold rallies in San Antonio on October 24 and November 1, while Paxton will close his "Come and Take It" tour at the Alamo on November 2. Early voting runs through October 30, with Election Day on November 3.
