Trump Joins Nevada House Race by Tele-Rally
President Donald Trump spoke by tele-rally on October 21 in a U.S. House race in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, calling Democratic candidate Teresa Benitez-Thompson crazy and a radical Democrat communist, the Reno Gazette Journal reported. The race pits Republican David Flippo against Democrat Teresa Benitez-Thompson for the seat of Rep. Mark Amodei, who is retiring. Trump endorsed Flippo in the Republican primary in June, a move credited with helping the Northern Nevada newcomer defeat longtime rancher and legislator James Settelmeyer. Election forecasts show Flippo favored to win because of the Republican advantage among active registered voters, while also showing Benitez-Thompson within striking distance if Democrats achieve a large wave. From 2010 to 2022, Benitez-Thompson served in the Nevada Assembly representing parts of Reno and the North Valleys. She is a licensed social worker and was most recently chief of staff for Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford.
