Sen. Hassan Visits Manchester and Rochester, Focusing on Recovery Housing and Affordable Housing
According to a press release issued October 20 on U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan's official website, Hassan visited new housing projects in Manchester and Rochester that day to promote measures to lower housing costs and support people in recovery.
In Manchester, Hassan joined the organization Revive Recovery for a ribbon cutting for "The Hive," a new recovery residence and resource center for women overcoming substance use disorders that provides daily structure, outside treatment referrals, and support with housing, employment and emotional management. Hassan said: "When you are in recovery, at a critical turning point, having a safe place to call home is essential; especially for women who have been stigmatized because of a substance use disorder, a space that is both safe and beautiful can restore dignity." She then toured "The Rapids on Cocheco" in Rochester, a new housing development for working families financed in part by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), whose expansion Hassan has pushed.
