Comedian Carrot Top Returns to the Stage: Back at the Luxor in Las Vegas After a Month Away
LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada. Comedian Carrot Top (born Scott Thompson, 61), known for his red hair and prop comedy, returned to his residency stage at the Luxor Hotel and Casino on the evening of October 19, performing his first show in a month before a sold-out crowd.
According to Page Six, he described the time away on stage as a month of reflection and folded his own experience into self-deprecating prop bits. He has headlined at the Luxor since 2005, one of the longest-running comedy residencies in Las Vegas.
On September 18 he was found down near his Las Vegas home and was taken to a hospital after his team requested a welfare check; he remained hospitalized until late September. Multiple outlets reported the incident as a suicide attempt. On October 17 he posted on Instagram for the first time since, thanking supporters and saying he is recovering.
In the United States, people in crisis can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which provides free, confidential support around the clock. (GSM, based on Page Six and USA Today reporting)
