Huntington Man Sentenced to Four Years and Three Months for Fentanyl Crime and Violating Supervised Release

Huntington, West Virginia — The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of West Virginia announced on October 19 that Ian Wyatt Justice, 25, of Huntington, was sentenced that day to four years and three months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and for violating supervised release. U.S. Attorney Moore Capito made the announcement.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on April 1, 2026, law enforcement officers stopped a vehicle driven by Justice in Huntington, arrested him on an active warrant, and seized approximately 51.13 grams of fentanyl from his person; as part of his guilty plea, Justice admitted he possessed the fentanyl and intended to distribute it. He further admitted intending to distribute approximately 15.2 grams of fentanyl and 24.2 grams of cocaine base, known as crack, seized during a separate traffic stop on December 4, 2025.

At the time of these offenses, Justice was serving a term of supervised release following a March 7, 2022 conviction in the same district for possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. One year and three months of the new sentence is for the supervised-release violation. U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence; Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph F. Adams prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force and the Huntington Police Department. The case number is 3:26-cr-56, and related documents are available through PACER.
