One Dead, Nine Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Transmountain Road in El Paso
In El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, one man died and nine other people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the morning of October 19. The El Paso Times reported the collision occurred about 10:30 a.m. at Transmountain Road and North Desert Boulevard in West El Paso, involving a semitrailer and about five other vehicles.
El Paso Fire Department spokesman Hector Gonzalez said there were 10 patients at the scene: one was flown to a hospital by helicopter, four were transported to a hospital, and four refused transportation. Police spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo confirmed one man died in the collision. The police Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating, and the cause has not been released.
Loop 375 (Transmountain Road) westbound was closed at Exit 11A (Northwestern Drive) and eastbound at the I-10 overpass, and all lanes of North Desert Boulevard at Transmountain Road were closed, with traffic diverted onto I-10. The Texas Department of Transportation said the closures would remain in effect until further notice.
