印第安纳州拟取消两县夏季特殊汽油要求 预计每季为居民节省数百万美元

Indiana Moves to End Special Summer Gasoline Rule in Two Counties, Saving Residents Millions Each Season
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) said in a news release this week that the state Environmental Rules Board voted to advance two burden-reducing measures. The first permanently ends the low Reid vapor pressure (LRVP) summer gasoline requirement in Clark and Floyd counties; the second amends open-burning rules to exempt certain state fire agencies and the state homeland security department from seeking IDEM's prior approval for training fires.
The LRVP requirement was imposed in 1995 to meet Clean Air Act requirements for the Louisville metropolitan area, and local residents have been bound by the stricter gasoline standard for decades. IDEM's air quality office assessed that, with advances in vehicle technology and fuel standards, the emissions benefit of LRVP fuel is now negligible, while the special gasoline typically costs 10 to 20 cents more per gallon, a cost passed on to consumers. Ending the requirement is expected to save local residents $2.5 million to $5.1 million each summer fuel season.
Governor Mike Braun said: "Since the start of my term, we have looked for ways to reduce burdens on Hoosiers and cut red tape. These measures strike the right balance between meaningful environmental protection and government efficiency."
