Steelers Injury Update: Metcalf Cleared; Freiermuth Questionable with Calf Injury
Pittsburgh is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Steelers updated their injury report on Saturday, October 17: wide receiver DK Metcalf, who missed Friday's practice with an illness, has been removed from the report and is expected to play Sunday; but tight end Pat Freiermuth picked up a calf injury in Saturday's practice and is listed as questionable. Team communications director Burt Lauten announced the changes on social media.
Both moves matter for a thinned-out receiving corps: Michael Pittman Jr. remains on the injury report, and Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek have both been ruled out for Sunday, so Metcalf's return is a relief. If Freiermuth cannot go, Pittsburgh's plan to compensate with "12 personnel" two-tight-end sets takes a hit, and Robert Tonyan would take on a larger role.
The Steelers visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, October 18, in a key Week 6 matchup.
