Messi Brace Leads Inter Miami to 3-1 Win at Atlanta United
Atlanta is a city in Fulton County, Georgia. Inter Miami beat Atlanta United 3-1 on the road on Saturday, October 17, in a marquee MLS regular-season match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Germán Berterame opened the scoring with a header in the 45th minute, and Lionel Messi struck twice in the second half — in the 56th and 60th minutes — to put the game away. Fafa Picault converted a penalty in the 89th minute for Atlanta's only goal.
It was Messi's first club match since his farewell to the Argentina national team, and he remained in fine form, his two goals securing all three points on the road. The win keeps Inter Miami second in the Eastern Conference as they close in on a playoff berth, while Atlanta United sit 14th in the East amid a difficult season. The clubs' regular-season meetings are now complete, with Miami holding the clear edge in points and momentum.
