Falcons Rule Out Branch and Ebukam for Bengals Game With Hamstring Injuries
In Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, the Atlanta Falcons announced early on November 2 that two players will miss this week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski, in his first media session of Week 9 on November 2, said rookie wide receiver Zachariah Branch and edge rusher Samson Ebukam are both out with hamstring injuries, and that either or both could miss multiple games. It is rare for a coach to rule players out so early in the week, and the team will spend the week working out replacements.
Branch was injured on a kickoff return in the November 1 game and is the team's trusted return man; Ebukam has 2.5 sacks this season. The Falcons lost 16-0 at Tampa Bay on November 1 and stand at 3-5. The absences directly affect Atlanta's return, receiving and pass-rush rotations, and the team has not announced a timetable for either player's return.
