Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser Releases Weekend Schedule: Ward 4 Family Fun Day Saturday, Church Groundbreaking Sunday
The Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser has released the mayor's public calendar for the weekend of October 17-18, 2026. At 1 p.m. on Saturday, Bowser will deliver remarks at the Ward 4 Family Fun Day at the Riggs LaSalle Recreation Center, 501 Riggs Rd NE. The event is open press.
At 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Bowser will break ground on the future home of The District Church and National Baptist Memorial Church, at the National Baptist Memorial Church, 1499 Columbia Rd NW. Press interested in attending were asked to RSVP.
The mayor's office listed transit information for both events: the Family Fun Day site is served by the P16 and C71 bus routes and a Bikeshare station at 3rd St and Riggs Rd NE, while the closest Metro station to the groundbreaking is Columbia Heights.
