Trump Endorses Wilson in Alaska Governor's Race as Taylor Stays In
President Donald Trump has endorsed Republican Bernadette Wilson in Alaska's gubernatorial race, Alaska media reported on October 16, with less than 20 days until the November 3 general election. In a social media message, Trump called Wilson outstanding and urged support for her bid to become governor.
At the same time, fellow Republican Treg Taylor, a former state attorney general, said he will remain in the race for Alaska governor despite Trump's call for him to bow out, a development reported on Alaska News Nightly on October 16. The Republican contest for the governorship has therefore intensified.
Alaska's gubernatorial election will be held on November 3. Incumbent Governor Mike Dunleavy earlier proclaimed October 12-16 as Employment First Awareness Week in Alaska to support integrated employment for residents with disabilities, a proclamation week that concluded on October 16.
