NE Prescott Street Repaving Between 92nd and 102nd Avenues Starts Oct. 19 in Portland, With Westbound Detour via NE Sandy Boulevard
Portland is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon. The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) said in a traffic advisory on October 16 that, in collaboration with the City of Maywood Park, it will repair sections of NE Prescott Street between NE 92nd Avenue and NE 102nd Avenue. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 19, and is expected to take approximately six business days.
Crews will repair damaged sections of the roadway by removing old asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt. The work is funded in part by Fixing Our Streets and is being completed in partnership with the City of Maywood Park. The road is shared by both cities along its centerline; in 2024 Portland identified the opportunity for preventive maintenance on the stretch, and the two cities entered a cost-sharing agreement that splits costs proportionally based on each jurisdiction's right-of-way ownership. The maintenance is expected to add 8 to 10 years of pavement life and improve the road's condition from fair to very good.
During construction, NE Prescott Street will be closed except for local traveler and bus access heading eastbound. Westbound travelers will be detoured at NE 102nd Avenue to NE Sandy Boulevard and will reconnect to NE Prescott Street at NE 92nd Avenue. Transit riders are advised to check TriMet for impacts.
Paving work is weather-dependent and dates are subject to change. Expect rough roads, traffic delays and detours between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, with some weekend work possible. Residents will continue to have access to and from their homes throughout the project, and pedestrian access will remain open. PBOT asks travelers to expect dust, noise, vibrations and heavy equipment on NE Prescott and surrounding side streets, and to follow all traffic control signs and flaggers through the work zone.
