Proofpoint to Acquire Data Security Firm Varonis for $6.3 Billion in Cash
Proofpoint, the cybersecurity company owned by private equity firm Thoma Bravo, announced on Oct. 15 that it will acquire Nasdaq-listed data security company Varonis Systems for about $6.3 billion in cash, at $49.75 per share, a 52 percent premium to the June 22 closing price. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
