两名女子在联邦法院起诉前众议员盖茨：指控2017至2019年组织性贩运 盖茨否认将应诉
前联邦众议员马特·盖茨10月15日在佛罗里达中区联邦法院被两名化名“简·多伊”的女子提起民事诉讼，指控他在2017年至2019年初与两名同伙组织、付费、安排跨州卖淫并提供毒品，求偿金额未定。
诉状还点名两名同案被告：前塞米诺尔县税务官乔尔·格林伯格——2021年已就性贩运未成年人等多项联邦罪名认罪、被判11年监禁；以及前佛州州众议员克里斯托弗·多斯沃斯。原告律师称，两名原告当年二十出头、经济拮据，被以金钱资助为名拉入圈子。
盖茨否认全部指控，称诉状“很多内容不实”，表示将应诉并对原告取证。司法部此前已决定不对他提起刑事指控；众议院道德委员会的相关调查曾迫使他在2024年退出司法部长提名。这是他2024年离任国会以来面临的最重大法律挑战。

Two Women Sue Former Rep. Matt Gaetz in Federal Court, Alleging a Sex Trafficking Ring From 2017 to 2019; Gaetz Denies the Claims
Former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz was sued in federal court in the Middle District of Florida on Oct. 15 by two women, identified by the pseudonym Jane Doe, who allege that from 2017 into early 2019 he and two associates organized, paid for and arranged interstate prostitution and supplied drugs. The amount of damages sought has not been specified.
The complaint also names two co-defendants: Joel Greenberg, the former Seminole County tax collector, who pleaded guilty in 2021 to federal charges including sex trafficking of minors and was sentenced to 11 years in prison; and Christopher Dorworth, a former Florida state representative. The plaintiffs' lawyer said the two women were in their early twenties and financially struggling when they were drawn in with offers of financial support.
Gaetz has denied all of the allegations, saying much of the conduct alleged against him is false, and has said he will defend the suit and pursue discovery against the plaintiffs. The Justice Department previously decided not to bring criminal charges against him, and a House Ethics Committee investigation forced him to withdraw as the nominee for attorney general in 2024. The suit is the most significant legal challenge he has faced since leaving Congress in 2024.
