U2 Announce First Stadium World Tour Since 2019; New Album 'Carnaval De Luz' Due November 13
DUBLIN — Irish rock band U2 announced on October 15 that they will return to stadiums in 2027 with the 'Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show On Earth' world tour, their first stadium run since 2019. The first six announced dates are all in Latin America: February 23 and 26, 2027 at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City; March 10 and 12 at Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo; and March 23 and 25 at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, with Beck supporting all six shows. The band said those will be the tour's only Latin American stops next year, with European and North American dates to be announced in the coming weeks and an Irish homecoming also being planned.
The tour supports 'Carnaval De Luz,' U2's 16th studio album and first collection of new material in nine years, due November 13, 2026 via Interscope. On October 15 the band also released the album's third single, the title track 'The Greatest Show On Earth,' co-written with Brian Eno, with a video directed by longtime collaborator Anton Corbijn and shot in the California desert. In a joint statement, the four members described the tour's name as a challenge to themselves as much as to audiences, aiming to give everyone who shows up a memorable night.
Tickets go on presale for U2.com subscribers from October 19, with general sales beginning October 22 local time. U2's last stadium outing was The Joshua Tree Tour, which ended in Mumbai in December 2019; in 2023 and 2024 the band played a 40-show residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. Consequence and other outlets reported that drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who missed the Sphere residency for health reasons, will return for the tour.
