DOJ and HHS-OIG: Single Self-Disclosure of Health Care Fraud Can Earn Benefits Under Both Regimes
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department's Fraud Division and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) have issued a policy under which companies that voluntarily self-disclose potential criminal health care fraud to the Fraud Division need make that single disclosure to simultaneously receive benefits under both the Justice Department's corporate enforcement policy and the HHS-OIG Self-Disclosure Protocol.
The agencies said the arrangement streamlines voluntary self-disclosure and is meant to encourage companies to come forward with health care fraud problems.
