London Fashion Week Spring 2027: Burberry Closes the Week as Daniel Lee Reworks the Trench With Celia Birtwell
LONDON — London Fashion Week's Spring/Summer 2027 season, organized by the British Fashion Council (BFC), ran from September 17 to 21, 2026, with 47 catwalk shows, 23 presentations and 10 digital activations. Burberry closed the week on the evening of September 21 at Chelsea College of Arts.
Creative director Daniel Lee collaborated with British textile artist Celia Birtwell, weaving her hand-drawn florals and faces into the collection. In the brand's 170th anniversary year — Burberry was founded in 1856 — the signature trench was reworked in lighter forms, from fluid silk and deliberately wrinkled taffeta to pouf skirts, with a soundtrack drawn from David Bowie's music.
British rapper Central Cee made a surprise runway debut during the show. Afterward, the Victoria and Albert Museum opened "The Burberry Trench: Crafting an Icon," an exhibition of archival trench coats.
Elsewhere on the calendar, Alexander McQueen returned to the London schedule after several years away, showing on September 20; Marks & Spencer appeared on the fashion week schedule for the first time; and Erdem showed in Camden on September 20.
