Justin Sun's 6,000-Word X Essay 'My Girlfriend Jing Tian' Ignites an Online Storm: Actress Cries Foul, CZ Rebukes Then Unfollows Him
On the evening of August 27, 2026, TRON founder Justin Sun published a roughly 6,000-word essay on X titled "My Girlfriend Jing Tian," recounting in vivid detail an alleged relationship with actress Jing Tian and the money that passed between them, then labeling the piece, in its final line, "purely fictional." The post detonated online: related topics raced up the trending charts, and Sun himself became the spectacle, with netizens reviving the nickname they have used for him for years, "Sun the Harvester."
The essay did not come out of nowhere. In May, anonymous posts alleged that an actress surnamed J was entangled with a wealthy man in a surrogacy and money dispute; Jing Tian's studio denied the claims at the time as malicious fabrication. On August 27, the topic "Jing Tian's wealthy boyfriend suspected to be Justin Sun" topped the trending list. That evening, Sun's lawyer Zhang Qihuai confirmed publicly that Sun had sued Jing Tian and her parents over a property dispute of more than 30 million yuan, that the court had accepted the case and that asset preservation had been applied for, while Jing Tian's side had filed a jurisdictional objection. The lawyer described the money as bride price, saying the two had planned to marry and split in the first half of the year. The case has not reached a substantive hearing and there is no judgment. The essay's claims about a relationship and surrogacy are Sun's one-sided account and have not been established by any court.
Jing Tian's studio issued a stern statement that night denying the relationship and surrogacy claims, calling the episode "a shakedown that holds an artist's reputation hostage" and leaving everything to the courts. On August 28, Jing Tian posted in her own name: "In the past, now, and in the future, I will never sell my love for money, still less my soul. I still believe in love; my judgment is still poor; my wisdom is still lacking. But I believe in the law, in kindness, and in the justice and fairness that will come in the end. Time will prove everything."
Sun later said in an interview that he had spent more than ten hours writing the essay and that "the vast majority of it is a truthful statement of what I intended," while conceding that parts were fictional. Several legal professionals noted that, compared with the dispute over the 30 million yuan itself, the legal exposure created by publishing the essay was the clearer risk.
The saga peaked in the early hours of August 29, when Binance founder Changpeng Zhao posted on X: aggressive marketing is one thing, he wrote, but escalating to personal attacks that could damage someone's career is unnecessary, and going to court beats disclosing needless details; the industry, he added, should hold itself to a higher standard. Within the hour, Sun replied: "Thank you, CZ, you are right. Mutual respect, a proper resolution, and the rest goes to the court. I will say no more." Zhao then unfollowed Sun, and "CZ unfollows Justin Sun" trended in its own right. Later that day, barely an hour after promising silence, Sun reposted the essay and published another note likening a breakup to moving out and switching off the lights: "The sound of the light being switched off disturbed Ms. Jing. That was not my intention. I wish her well." That sequence became the moment the crowd could not stop watching.
