Reno High Girls Beat Sierra Vista 2-0 for First Nevada 4A State Soccer Title
RENO, Nevada — Reno High's girls soccer team beat Sierra Vista High 2-0 in Spring Valley, southern Nevada, on November 7 to win the Nevada Class 4A state championship — the first girls soccer state title in school history. Sophomore forward Mia Concha and freshman Clementine Carr scored the goals that sealed the Huskies' win. Concha had also scored in the November 6 semifinal, a 4-2 victory over Palo Verde. Head coach Jason Saville said afterward that his players stayed focused and trusted one another throughout. A week earlier Reno had lost the 4A Northern final 4-3 to Galena, a defeat the team used as fuel. Sierra Vista, which beat Galena 2-1 in the other semifinal, was also playing in its first state final. The same day, Truckee High beat South Tahoe 2-0 for its 13th Class 3A state title, its first since 2019. Reno's breakthrough writes a new page in the school's sports history and lifts girls soccer across Washoe County.
