盐湖城司机高速撞上交通控制杆车辆起火 当场身亡
盐湖城警方通报，一名司机11月7日星期六凌晨在高速行驶中失控撞上交通控制杆，车辆随即起火，司机当场身亡。事故发生在午夜刚过不久，地点位于盐湖城市南1700街与西5600街附近路段。
盐湖城警察局凯文·布卢中尉向媒体介绍，肇事车辆当时正沿南向车道高速行驶，司机失控后撞上一根钢制交通控制杆，车辆随即燃起大火。警方事故重建小组已赶赴现场勘查。布卢表示，车内只有司机一人，其身份目前尚未确认公布；被问及事故是否与街头竞速有关时，布卢表示警方目前没有这方面的信息。
消防部门到场后扑灭了车辆大火，警方一度封锁周边路段进行调查。现场照片显示，多辆消防车与警车赶到事发地点，警方在路口拉起警戒线，烧毁的车辆残骸留在人行道旁。盐湖城警方表示，事故重建小组已对现场完成初步勘查，司机的身份将在核实并通知家属后公布，警方也将在确认更多细节后发布后续通报，事故原因仍在调查之中。

Driver Dies After Crashing Into Traffic Pole at High Speed in Salt Lake City; Car Catches Fire
Salt Lake City police say a driver lost control at high speed shortly after midnight on Saturday, Nov. 7, struck a steel traffic control pole, and died at the scene as the vehicle caught fire. The crash occurred near 1700 South and 5600 West in Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Kevin Blue told reporters the vehicle was traveling southbound at high speed when the driver lost control and hit a steel traffic control pole, and the car burst into flames. The department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Team responded to investigate. Blue said the driver was alone in the vehicle and has not yet been identified; asked whether street racing was involved, he said police have no information on that at this time.
Fire crews extinguished the vehicle fire, and police temporarily closed surrounding roads for the investigation. Police say the reconstruction team has completed a preliminary examination of the scene; the driver's identity will be released after confirmation and family notification, with further updates to follow, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
