Rockets and Amen Thompson Visit Lockhart Elementary With Supplies and a New Campus Resource Program
The Houston Rockets joined guard Amen Thompson and his family foundation at Lockhart Elementary School on Nov. 6 for a campus pep rally, donating school supplies and launching the 'Lockhart Rockets Resource' support program. General Manager Rafael Stone and members of the team's entertainment crew attended and interacted with students. The team said it hopes the long-term partnership with the school will give students more learning resources and support. The Rockets play at the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night, Nov. 7, with tip-off at 9 p.m. Eastern. The Lockhart event is part of the Rockets' community series; in recent years the team has repeatedly visited Houston schools with reading, sports and supply-donation programs. The team says visiting campuses is its tradition of giving back to Houston, with players and management hoping the power of sports can inspire students to love learning and stay active, extending the team's impact from the court into classrooms and the community.
