Martine Rose Named Creative Director of Balenciaga, Succeeding Piccioli on November 16
Kering and Balenciaga announced on November 6 that British designer Martine Rose has been appointed Creative Director of Balenciaga. Based in Paris, she will take up the role on November 16, 2026, succeeding Pierpaolo Piccioli, whose departure was announced the previous day after a tenure of less than a year and a half at the house, which he had led since July 2025.
"It is a true privilege to be appointed Creative Director of Balenciaga, a House with an extraordinary heritage and a fearless creative spirit," Rose said. Rose established her eponymous label in London in 2007. Her creative language is rooted in subculture, music, identity and the social codes of dress, reinterpreting familiar archetypes and everyday dress, and she has become one of the industry's most influential creative collaborators and consultants.
