Alabama executed death-row inmate Michael Shannon Taylor by lethal injection on November 5 at Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. He was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m., aged 54. It was the state's third execution of 2026.
Taylor was convicted on April 14, 1993, of the 1991 killings of Ivan Moore, 83, and Lucille Moore, 79, in Gadsden, whom he beat with a metal bar in a robbery for clothes and jewelry money; the jury unanimously recommended a death sentence. Governor Kay Ivey and Attorney General Steve Marshall both issued statements on the execution.
