美国国家历史博物馆11月8日办苗族新年活动：名厨 Diane Moua 现场讲述节日与食物
美国国家历史博物馆将于11月8日（周日）下午1时在馆内 Wallace H. Coulter 表演广场举办「节奏、根源与食谱：苗族新年」（Rhythms, Roots, Recipes: Hmong New Year）活动，由史密森尼民俗生活与文化遗产中心呈现，免费向公众开放，活动约至下午2时15分。
苗族新年（Noj Peb Caug，意为「吃三十」）是苗族一年中最重要的节日，传统上在秋收后举行，以感恩丰收、辞旧迎新，其间有盛装、歌舞、抛布球与丰盛宴席。本次活动特邀明尼阿波利斯知名餐厅 Diane's Place 主厨 Diane Moua 现场分享：她将通过烹饪演示与讲述，介绍苗族新年的饮食传统与自己作为苗族厨师的成长故事。
苗族是美国重要的少数族裔社群之一，加州的 Fresno 与 Sacramento 一带聚居着大量苗族居民，每年新年季各地都有大型庆典。华盛顿特区的这场活动为东海岸观众提供了一个近距离了解苗族文化的窗口，与加州等地的社区庆典遥相呼应。
博物馆位于华盛顿特区国家广场宪法大道一侧，当日凭免费入场参观。馆方建议有兴趣的观众提前到场占位。

Hmong New Year at the National Museum of American History November 8: Chef Diane Moua Headlines Free Program
The National Museum of American History will host "Rhythms, Roots, Recipes: Hmong New Year" on Sunday, November 8 at 1 p.m. at the Wallace H. Coulter Performance Plaza, presented by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. The program, running to about 2:15 p.m., is free to attend.
Hmong New Year, Noj Peb Caug ("eat thirty"), is the most important festival of the Hmong year, traditionally held after the harvest to give thanks and welcome the new year with embroidered dress, song and dance, ball tossing and feasting. Chef Diane Moua of Diane's Place, the acclaimed Minneapolis restaurant, will headline the program with a cooking demonstration and stories about Hmong New Year food traditions and her own path as a Hmong chef.
Hmong Americans form one of the country's significant minority communities, with large populations in California's Fresno and Sacramento areas, where major New Year celebrations are held each season. The Washington, D.C. program offers East Coast audiences a close-up introduction to Hmong culture alongside those community celebrations.
The museum, on Constitution Avenue along the National Mall, is free; organizers suggest arriving early for seating.
