跟进：华人马氏家族卖淫洗钱案宣判：首领获刑14年8个月

文图拉—位于美国加利福尼亚州文图拉县的地区检察官办公室11月4日宣布，以按摩店为掩护经营商业性交易、长达十余年从中国招募并剥削女性的华人马氏家族犯罪集团四名成员，已被判处州监狱监禁：集团首领Xiangwei Ma（56岁，住西米谷）获刑14年8个月，其弟Xiangdong Ma获刑10年，其姐Li Ma获刑5年4个月，其夫Ming Ma获刑4年4个月。四人另被勒令没收逾125万美元资产。

四人此前已被陪审团裁定多项重罪成立，本站曾报道定罪结果。地区检察官办公室公布的量刑为：Xiangwei Ma因拉皮条、按揭欺诈及九项洗钱罪获刑14年8个月，10月23日宣判；Xiangdong Ma因拉皮条及五项洗钱罪获刑10年，同日宣判；Li Ma因拉皮条及一项洗钱罪获刑5年4个月，11月2日宣判；Ming Ma因拉皮条及两项洗钱罪获刑4年4个月，11月4日宣判。本案第五名被告、Li Ma的丈夫Jaime Calderon已于2023年8月承认洗钱罪名，被判在县监狱服刑。

检方称，调查始于2020年：多家执法机构收到匿名信，举报文图拉市的Miracle Massage、休尼米港市（Port Hueneme）的A+ Massage等按摩店涉嫌卖淫与人口贩运。调查认定，该集团十余年来以合法按摩店作掩护，从中国招募女性到美国从事商业性交易，受害女性被安排住在店内；其经营网络不限于文图拉县，还延伸至加州其他地点和外州，收益经金融机构、房地产及其他资产洗白。

此案由文图拉县地区检察官办公室调查局牵头侦办，奥克斯纳德、西米谷、文图拉三市警察局及联邦调查局、国土安全调查局、国税局刑事调查处与加州税务和费用管理局共同参与，案号为2020033841。与本案相关的资产没收诉讼仍在进行中。

Follow-Up: Ma Family Members Sentenced in Ventura County Commercial Sex and Money Laundering Case, Ringleader Gets 14 Years 8 Months

VENTURA, California — The Ventura County District Attorney's Office announced on November 4 that four members of a Chinese family criminal enterprise, which used massage businesses as fronts for commercial sex and recruited and exploited women from China for more than a decade, have been sentenced to state prison. The group's leader, Xiangwei Ma, 56, of Simi Valley, received 14 years and eight months; her brother Xiangdong Ma received 10 years; her sister Li Ma received five years and four months; and her husband Ming Ma received four years and four months. The four were also ordered to forfeit more than $1.25 million in assets.

The four had previously been convicted by a jury of multiple felonies, as GSM reported earlier. According to the District Attorney's Office, Xiangwei Ma was sentenced on October 23 to 14 years and eight months for pimping, mortgage fraud and nine counts of money laundering; Xiangdong Ma was sentenced the same day to 10 years for pimping and five counts of money laundering; Li Ma was sentenced on November 2 to five years and four months for pimping and one count of money laundering; and Ming Ma was sentenced on November 4 to four years and four months for pimping and two counts of money laundering. A fifth defendant, Jaime Calderon, Li Ma's husband, pleaded guilty to money laundering in August 2023 and was sentenced to a term in county jail.

Prosecutors said the investigation began in 2020, after several law enforcement agencies received anonymous letters reporting suspected prostitution and human trafficking at massage establishments including Miracle Massage in Ventura and A+ Massage in Port Hueneme. Investigators determined that for more than ten years the defendants recruited women from China to engage in commercial sex in the United States while presenting the businesses as legitimate massage establishments, and that the women lived in the businesses. The enterprise also operated in other locations in California and in other states, laundering the proceeds through financial institutions, real estate and other assets.

The case, No. 2020033841, was investigated by the Ventura County District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation together with the Oxnard, Simi Valley and Ventura police departments, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, IRS Criminal Investigation and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. A related asset-forfeiture case remains pending.
