Minnesota Man Convicted by Federal Jury Over Social Media Post Threatening Former Attorney General Pamela Bondi
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota announced on November 4 that Tyler Maxon Avalos, 30, was found guilty by a federal jury of interstate transmission of a threat to injure the person of another. The verdict was returned in federal court in St. Paul, Minnesota, before U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, on October 9, 2025, a Michigan user of a social media platform observed a post the user believed threatened then-Attorney General Pamela Bondi and reported it to the FBI. The post featured a photograph of Bondi with a sniper-scope-style red-dot crosshair imposed on her forehead and words stating she was wanted, dead or alive, preferably dead, with a $45,000 price mentioned. Below the post, the poster commented, "when they don't serve us then what?"
The FBI traced the post to Avalos. The Justice Department said Avalos has a criminal history that includes a 2022 felony stalking conviction in Dakota County, Minnesota, a 2016 felony domestic battery conviction in Polk County, Florida, and several misdemeanor domestic-assault convictions. His social media accounts also posted content celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk and references to Luigi Mangione.
U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen said the verdict resulted from his office's continuing campaign with federal law enforcement against threats of political violence, noting the office has this year won convictions of individuals who threatened federal judges, members of Congress and others.
The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph S. Teirab and Assistant U.S. Attorneys David Green and Benjamin Bejar. The Justice Department release did not announce a sentencing date.
