Astronaut Aboard the Space Station Takes Students' Questions Live Today: Anil Menon in Orbit, Mark Rober Joining From California

NASA announced that on November 4, 2026, students across the country will connect directly with the International Space Station in a live, interactive in-flight call beginning at 11 a.m. EST. NASA astronaut Anil Menon, aboard the station, will answer students' questions, joined from California by Mark Rober, STEM content creator and founder of the ClassCrunchLabs Foundation. Hosted by NASA's Office of STEM Engagement to celebrate National STEM Day, the call will be available on the agency's flagship YouTube channel.

From aboard the space station, Menon will answer questions about living and working in microgravity, the path to becoming an astronaut, and the technologies that make human spaceflight possible. During the downlink, students will see the space station in real time as Menon demonstrates how everyday activities, from eating to experimenting, change in microgravity. NASA said the calls support its broader effort to connect students with authentic STEM experiences, helping build technical skills and introduce aerospace careers.

The downlink also marks the launch of a new collaboration between NASA and the ClassCrunchLabs Foundation. Together, the organizations will align NASA's mission-driven educational resources with CrunchLabs' hands-on engineering content to broaden access to STEM learning nationwide. Rober will share how curiosity, creativity, and hands-on problem-solving shaped his career from NASA engineer to STEM creator.

NASA encouraged educators and families to tune in and celebrate National STEM Day, an opportunity to recognize the power of hands-on learning and inspire the next generation of scientists, technicians, engineers, and innovators.
