Elko County Commissioners Weigh Public Defender Vehicle Purchase on November 4: Quote of $34,595
At 1:30 p.m. on November 4, the Elko County Board of Commissioners met in Room 102 of the Nannini Administration Building at 540 Court Street in Elko, Nevada, to consider buying a vehicle for the Public Defender's office. The agenda item proposed purchasing a 2027 Toyota Camry SE all-wheel-drive from local dealer Elko Motor Company for $34,595.25; staff said it was the lowest listed quote, fit the approved fiscal 2027 budget, and favored a local business.
The agenda also listed a competing quote of $34,974, but that dealer's attachment describes a 2026 front-wheel-drive model, at odds with the agenda description; a Carson City Toyota worksheet gave a $35,000 cash delivered price. The November 4 meeting was to consider the purchase — the agenda itself does not mean the commission has approved it or issued an order, and the final decision will rest on the meeting record. Online public comments were due by 9:30 a.m. that day.
