Timberwolves Bench Forward Trey Lyles Shines, Leading the Team in True Shooting Percentage
The Minnesota Timberwolves, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, had a player storyline worth noting on November 4: bench forward Trey Lyles has drawn praise from teammates and coaches for his recent play. Against the Milwaukee Bucks, Lyles played 21 minutes off the bench, scored 12 points with two three-pointers, helped steady the team and finished at plus-4. Star guard LaMelo Ball said after the game that he loves what Lyles brings.
Through the first eight games of the season, Lyles has posted a 60.7% true shooting percentage, the best mark on the team. The 11-year veteran spent last season playing in Madrid and has quickly found his form since returning to the NBA. With star Anthony Edwards sidelined by injury, Lyles is expected to keep seeing significant rotation minutes, both as a backup forward and as a small-ball center. Head coach Chris Finch said players like Lyles bring energy when the team needs a spark.
