Sand Springs Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama, Celebrates 150th Anniversary: Theme Is 'The Anchor Holds'
Sand Springs Baptist Church, in Fayette, Fayette County, Alabama, celebrated its 150th anniversary on September 13. The church was founded in 1876.
The celebration's theme was "The Anchor Holds," marking both the anniversary and the memory of 2004, when an arsonist destroyed the church's former building. Marlin Mayfield was the guest preacher. David Nelson, a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, presented the church with a special commemorative plaque, which Pastor Jon Elinburg accepted. A celebration luncheon was served following the service.
