50 Cent-Tia Kemp Injunction Hearing Ends Without Progress: Kemp Absent, Service Incomplete, Permanent Order Unresolved

On November 3, a Miami-Dade County, Florida court held a hearing on the injunction that rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, sought on behalf of his 14-year-old son. According to TMZ, Jackson appeared before the judge by Zoom while Tia Kemp did not participate. Because Kemp reportedly has not been formally served with the injunction, the hearing ended without significant progress, and whether a longer-lasting order will be issued remains unresolved.

Appearing briefly by video, Jackson told the judge he would prefer not to keep pursuing the dispute but believes the circumstances leave him little choice. His attorneys told the court that Kemp was deliberately avoiding service of the legal papers. That claim is an allegation by Jackson's legal team: the court made no such finding, and TMZ's account presented no independent evidence for it. Service is the formal step that gives a defendant notice of a case and a chance to respond, and without it a judge generally cannot proceed to a final injunction.

The dispute began in late October, when Jackson filed a petition in Miami-Dade County accusing Kemp of repeatedly targeting his minor son in social media posts and public comments; the specific remarks alleged in the filing concern a minor and are not repeated here. On October 26, a Florida judge granted a temporary injunction ordering Kemp to stay at least 500 feet from the teenager and barring her from contacting him directly or indirectly, including through social media, and requiring her to surrender any firearms and ammunition to law enforcement once served. The temporary order was scheduled to expire on November 3, and Tuesday's hearing was meant to decide whether to extend it; according to TMZ, the current status of the temporary restrictions was not clarified in Tuesday's report.

Kemp shares an adult son with rapper Rick Ross. After news of the temporary order became public, she criticized Jackson on social media. On the morning of the November 3 hearing, her Instagram account became unavailable, and Jackson posted about it; according to Baller Alert, nothing so far shows Jackson had anything to do with the account going dark.

Separately, Jackson is suing Kemp in federal court in California for at least $6 million, alleging defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress on his son's behalf. That lawsuit and the Florida injunction case are separate proceedings, and the allegations in neither have been finally established by a court.
