Iowa Governor Election: AP Calls Race for Sand
The Associated Press called Iowa's governor's race on the evening of November 3 for Democratic candidate Rob Sand, who defeated Republican candidate Zach Lahn. Iowa is in the midwestern United States, and its capital is Des Moines.
The AP results page showed 1,488 of the state's 1,656 precincts reporting, about 89.86%, with an estimated 93.26% of votes counted; Sand had 723,608 votes to Lahn's 565,741. Counting is continuing; the figures are unofficial and final results are subject to certification by state election officials.
Sand previously served as Iowa's state auditor.
