San Diego County Probation Leads Multi-Agency Sweep of About 30 High-Risk Supervisees, Three Arrested
San Diego County Probation, in San Diego County, California, announced in late October that a mid-October unannounced multi-agency compliance sweep of about 30 high-risk supervisees ended with three arrests and the seizure of a Winchester rifle with no serial number, among other contraband.
According to the County News Center, three teams worked Central, Mid-City and Southeastern San Diego, focusing on people on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) or formal probation, with domestic-violence cases a priority. Officers conducted 13 residential searches, nine person searches and two vehicle searches. Of the three people arrested, two were taken in for probation violations and one for new charges.
Also seized were prohibited weapons, two vape pens, a credit card belonging to someone else and a Texas identification card. Partner agencies included the county's Child and Family Well-Being department, the California Department of Justice, the San Diego Community College Police and Probation's K-9 unit.
Probation officials said unannounced compliance checks verify that supervisees are following release conditions and help protect victims and neighborhoods, and that similar operations will continue on an unannounced basis.
