Louisville Beat Stanford 52-24: Isaac Brown Scores Four TDs as Third-Quarter Turnovers Decide It
Louisville beat Stanford 52-24 on October 31 at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium. The game stayed tight into the third quarter — Stanford led twice in the second quarter and tied it 24-24 in the third — before Louisville scored on back-to-back turnovers and closed on a 28-0 run.
Running back Isaac Brown needed only nine carries to pile up 139 yards and three rushing touchdowns, including a 75-yard breakaway in the fourth quarter; he added three catches for 33 yards and an 18-yard receiving touchdown for four total scores. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz completed 20 of 28 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 62 yards and another score, while Tre Richardson caught a career-high 10 passes for 140 yards. Louisville's 545 total yards were its best showing against an FBS opponent this season.
The game turned late in the third quarter: driving for a potential tying score, Stanford botched a hook-and-lateral and Louisville defensive back Tayon Holloway returned the fumble 31 yards for a touchdown and a 38-24 lead. Jabari Mack then intercepted Davis Warren, and Brown's 23-yard scoring run made it 45-24. Warren threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, and Nico Brown caught six passes for 109 yards and a score.
Louisville improved to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the ACC with its first-ever win over Stanford, and visits Georgia Tech next Saturday. Stanford fell to 4-5 and 2-4 in the ACC, its road losing streak reaching 15 games — the longest active skid in the FBS. (Reporting by the Associated Press and Field Level Media)
