Port of Red Wing Wins More Than $10 Million in Federal Funding to Replace Aging Barge-Loading Equipment
Red Wing, Goodhue County, Minnesota — The Port of Red Wing on the Mississippi River has received more than $10 million in federal funding to upgrade key port infrastructure, the Minnesota News Network reported in its October 31 morning headlines.
The money will replace aging barge-loading equipment and other critical infrastructure used to move grain along the Mississippi River. Officials said the improvements will boost safety and efficiency and help farmers get crops to market more quickly.
The Port of Red Wing is an important inland river port in southeastern Minnesota, serving more than 1,200 farmers, with hundreds of grain barges shipping out each year.
