Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold Launches February 23, 2027: Pre-Orders Open November 4, New Zephyr Job Revealed
Square Enix announced at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 keynote in Tokyo, Japan, on October 30 that Evercold, the sixth expansion for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV, will launch on February 23, 2027. Pre-orders open on November 4, 2026, and players who pre-order can start early access on February 19, 2027. The date lands about a month later than the January 2027 window first announced in Anaheim in April.
The keynote, presented by the game's producer and director Naoki Yoshida, opened with the expansion's full opening cinematic. It also revealed Evercold's second new job, Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that fells its quarry through a combination of crossbow shots and support from an avian familiar named Nephele, which can also support the party. Zephyr starts at level 90, with its job quest beginning in Gridania, and is playable only in Evolved Mode, the new battle system that puts more emphasis on job identity. The expansion's first new job, Bastion, was revealed at the Berlin Fan Festival in July.
Evercold will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Windows, Mac and Steam. The Switch 2 version of the game arrived on August 4, making this its first expansion launch. Tokyo is the third stop of the expansion's reveal cycle, after Anaheim in April and Berlin in July. The Fan Festival runs through the weekend, with a piano concert streaming on October 31 and a THE PRIMALS concert on November 1, both as paid streams.
