The Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, issued a news release on October 29 reporting a data breach that could affect nearly 5 million people, with compromised personal information including Social Security numbers. The department said staff learned on October 19 of 'unauthorized criminal access' involving the Florida Student Financial Aid website.
