据路透社10月29日报道，拜耳公司当天在圣路易斯赢得一起除草剂诉讼，陪审团一致裁定拜耳旗下的孟山都胜诉，驳回了三名女性关于其除草剂Roundup导致她们患癌的索赔。这是今年6月美国最高法院作出有利于拜耳的裁决以来，首起开庭审理的Roundup案件，该裁决实际上限制了基于“未在标签上标注癌症警告”提出的诉讼主张。
原告特蕾莎·阿雷蒂诺、辛西娅·费尔南德斯和贝蒂·拉金于2020年在圣路易斯起诉孟山都，称她们长期使用Roundup后患上非霍奇金淋巴瘤，三人均未参加拜耳提出的和解方案，费尔南德斯在开庭前已经去世。拜耳目前在美国各州和联邦法院面临约65000起类似索赔，同时正寻求通过一项72.5亿美元的和解方案解决数万起其他诉讼，该方案正在圣路易斯的密苏里州法院法官审查中。

St. Louis Jury Rules for Bayer in Roundup Cancer Trial on Oct. 29, First Case Tried After Supreme Court Ruling
Bayer won a Roundup weedkiller lawsuit in St. Louis on Oct. 29, as a jury unanimously ruled for Bayer's Monsanto unit and rejected three women's claims that the herbicide caused their cancer, Reuters reported. It was the first Roundup case to go to trial since the U.S. Supreme Court's June ruling in Bayer's favor, which effectively limited claims based on failure to warn about cancer risks on the label.
Plaintiffs Theresa Aretino, Cynthia Fernandez and Betty Larkin sued Monsanto in St. Louis in 2020, saying long-term Roundup use gave them non-Hodgkin lymphoma; none of the three joined Bayer's proposed settlement, and Fernandez died before trial. Bayer faces about 65,000 similar claims in state and federal courts, while pursuing a $7.25 billion settlement covering tens of thousands of other cases, now under review by a Missouri state court judge in St. Louis.
Bayer U.S. general counsel Bill Dodero said the verdict shows that after the Supreme Court ruling, it will be harder for other plaintiffs to win.
