Intel and Oracle Plan Expanded OCI Collaboration: Multiyear Deal Spans Xeon Platforms, X14 to Use Next-Generation "Diamond Rapids"
LAS VEGAS — Intel and Oracle announced on October 27, at Oracle AI World, plans for a multiyear collaboration intended to expand Intel Xeon-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), to meet growing demand for enterprise applications, agentic super intelligence (SI) and inference. The collaboration is expected to span current and future Xeon platforms, including planned OCI X14 offerings based on Intel's next-generation server processor, codenamed Diamond Rapids.
As more enterprises deploy SI agents at scale, the companies said, CPUs are becoming increasingly critical for executing applications, managing data movement, orchestrating agentic actions and supporting inference across existing business systems. Intel and Oracle intend to coordinate roadmaps and processor capacity planning to support OCI's expansion. The planned Diamond Rapids-based X14 offerings are expected to bring advances in SI acceleration and general-purpose computing, including enhanced Intel Advanced Matrix Extensions (AMX) with FP8, FP16 and BF16 support, and Intel Advanced Performance Extensions (APX). "Our expanded collaboration with Oracle is intended to combine Intel's multigenerational roadmap with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's technology," said Kevork Kechichian, executive vice president and general manager of Intel's Data Center Group.
Pradeep Vincent, executive vice president for compute and AI infrastructure at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said enterprise SI depends on the applications, data and tools that let an agent complete useful work, and that the expanded collaboration is intended to grow the compute capacity behind those workloads and bring enhanced Xeon capabilities to OCI through X14, giving customers a path to build and scale SI using familiar enterprise software environments.
