Vegas Golden Knights Beat the Senators 4-1 in Las Vegas: Lavoie's First NHL Goal Breaks the Tie and Ends a Three-Game Skid
The Vegas Golden Knights ended their losing streak at home on the night of October 27 in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada. The Golden Knights defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena, snapping a three-game skid and improving their record to 9-4-1.
The turning point came at 8:01 of the third period, when Raphael Lavoie knocked in a rebound of Ville Heinola's shot on a three-on-two rush for his first NHL goal, breaking the tie at 2-1. Lavoie had been expected to sit out as a scratch and only entered the lineup because goaltender Carter Hart was injured in the morning skate; he said after the game that he had not expected to play and was told only before leaving the rink that he would be in.
Earlier, Braden Bowman opened the scoring on the power play at 19:49 of the second period, and Ottawa's Sean Pinto tied it on a power play 34 seconds into the third. William Karlsson and Jack Eichel then each scored into an empty net to seal the 4-1 result.
Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill started in place of the injured Hart and made 25 saves; Senators goaltender Jonas Johansson also made 25 saves. Golden Knights head coach Ryan Craig praised Hill's steady play and credited Lavoie for seizing his opportunity.
