In an NBA matchup of unbeaten Western Conference teams on the night of October 27 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 136-129 to improve to 3-0, handing the Lakers their first loss of the season at 3-1, as Lakers star Luka Doncic scored a game-high 41 points with five rebounds and nine assists.
Both teams shot above 50 percent: Portland went 46 of 78 from the field (59 percent) and 18 of 36 from 3-point range, while Los Angeles shot 45 of 80 (56.2 percent). Rebounding was a decisive gap, with the Trail Blazers holding a 55-35 edge. Forward Deni Avdija finished with 23 points, four rebounds and nine assists, hitting key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Damian Lillard added another late 3-pointer as Portland closed out the win.
Los Angeles led 38-32 after the first quarter and 103-102 after three, but Portland won the fourth quarter 34-26 to pull away. Attendance was 19,067.
