Connecticut Opens $19.5 Million Ninth Round of Nonprofit Grant Program for Building and Technology Upgrades, Applications Due January 5, 2027

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced in Hartford on October 27 that the state is making $19.5 million available to nonprofit health and human service providers for building renovations, safety improvements and technology upgrades, in the ninth round of Connecticut's Nonprofit Grant Program. The program is run by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management. The application period opened October 27 and applications are due by January 5, 2027; the state expects to announce awards in spring 2027.

The program pays for capital projects rather than direct services, which the administration said lets nonprofits spend their own money on clients instead of facilities they may otherwise struggle to afford. Eligible projects include renovations, additions and new construction; health and safety improvements, including work to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act; energy efficiency upgrades; information technology systems; technology that helps clients live more independently; vehicles needed to deliver services; and property purchases. Application materials are available through the state's CTsource procurement portal and the program's webpage.

The Nonprofit Grant Program was created in 2013. Its first eight rounds awarded about $166 million for more than 700 capital projects at nonprofits across the state, according to the governor's office. The new round brings the total made available since the program began to more than $185 million. The governor's office said the recipient organizations provide health and human services in communities across Connecticut, and that the capital funding is intended to help front-line providers keep more of their own resources focused on the people they serve.
