Florida Inmate Sentenced to Additional Five Years and 11 Months for Mailing Threatening Letter With White Powder to Miami Federal Courthouse
Alvin Martin Few, 62, has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger to five years and eleven months in federal prison for mailing threatening communications, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida announced. Few pleaded guilty on July 14, 2026, and his new federal sentence will run consecutively to the life sentence plus 15 years he is already serving for state convictions in Florida. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.
According to court documents, while Few was serving his state sentence, he mailed a letter to the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Miami containing threatening statements including "all judges die." Few put a white powder inside the envelope and wrote that the powder was "very fatal." A clerk was exposed to the powder when he opened the letter.
Lab testing later confirmed the white powder was benign and not a chemical or biological agent. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Lasseter.
